as well as ROSTFREI (rust free) indicating stainless steel construction of the 3 7/8 inch long blade

most likely when it was accepted into service

This is a very nice BATF approved totally inert example of a 1943 dated No. 36M MkI Grenade. The No. 36M was the British army's standard hand grenade during WWII, and long afterwards. This wonderful example is complete with internal parts (no explosives!) and all of the original paint. It has both green stripes and red X's. The shellac identifies it as the No. 36M model. It is totally inert, and cannot be converted
