HMS LEANDER was a 52 gun 4th Rate Man o War launched in 1780 but that was captured in 1798 by the French ship GENEREUX that was then, in turn, captured by the Russians in 1799 and the vessel was returned to the Royal Navy. Her name was changed in 1813 to H. M. S. HYGEIA and she was finally sold from service on April 4th, 1817. This Sea Service Flintlock Pistol is perfectly standard and dates to the period. The
