This is a fine WW1 British military officers pocket compass as used in trenches during the Great War. It is nicely engraved as follows: [broad arrow] Sherwood & Co. London V No. 53373 1915 The engraving is on the base of the compass and bears a broad arrow denoting it was War Department issue. The full hunter case is in very good condition, and has been polished leaving a trace of the brassy finish on the outside
