it was feared for centuries as a bad luck stone
It was named from the Latin "Thule" - which was a term used by ancient Greeks and Romans to refer to the then-little-known lands to the north or present day Scandinavia
and variation of the amount of iron in the stone creates a color range from reddish purple to deep violet to light lilac
